American Airlines Welcomes Its First Boeing 787-8 Delivery Since April 2021

On Wednesday, 10 August, American received its first Boeing 787-8 aircraft this year and its first since April 2021.

American welcomes new Boeing 787-8 delivery American Airlines, a major US airline, is revamping itself and is getting ready to streamline the travel experience for passengers post the pandemic. American’s first Boeing 787-8 this Year:

On Wednesday, 10 August, American received its first Boeing 787-8 aircraft this year and its first since April 2021. The aircraft was delivered from Charleston, South Carolina, and is expected to enter commercial service in the coming weeks.

American Boeing 787 Family Fleet:

With this delivery, American currently has 47 active Boeing 787 family (25 Boeing 787-8 and 22 Boeing 787-9) aircraft in service in its fleet, with an additional 42 on order for the coming years. American has the youngest fleet among the US carriers, with an average age of 11.3 years. At the end of 2021, 55% of American’s mainline fleet was 10 years old or less. Over the same period, the airlines has retired 670 older, less fuel efficient planes through the end of 2021. The airlines appreciated the work done by the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing during the review process and thanked the hard work of airline team for making the delivery of the DREAMliner a reality!
