Malaysia Aviation Group Introduces Handbags From Recycled Aircraft Materials

Embracing the mission of sustainability, Malaysia Airlines’ parent company has unveiled a range of handbags made from repurposed aircraft materials. The company has partnered with fashion brand Theselina for this purpose. Malaysia Aviation Group and Theselina have used materials from aircraft such as leather seats, life vests, belts, tablecloths, cabin crew uniforms and buckles for making handbags, which are named after IATA codes for destinations within Malaysia Airlines’ network. The handbags are available for sale on www.myjournify.com. The range primarily includes five types, the Sierra Yankee Delta (SYD) Personalised Canvas Bag; the Mike Echo Lima (MEL) Backpack; the Mike Yankee Yankee (MYY) Penan Bag; and the November Romeo Tango (NRT) Messenger Bag.

Malaysia Airlines’ Efforts for Net-Zero Carbon Emission

Such innovative efforts are not new to Malaysia Airlines. In 2021, Malaysia Airlines launched the MHArtisans initiative, encouraging its employees to create and sell handcrafted items on its e-retail store.
