Pawan Hans Commences Helicopter Services on Six Routes in Assam Under RCS UDAN

Pawan Hans, India’s largest Helicopter operator, commenced services on six routes in the state of Assam on February 08, 2023, under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN. The new Helicopter services will provide connectivity on the Dibrugarh-Jorhat-Tezpur-Guwahati-Tezpur-Jorhat-Dibrugarh Network.

Air Connectivity Under RCS UDAN in NorthEast Region

The Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN focuses on improving air connectivity to remote regions in the northeast states where rail and road networks are limited. For example, through RCS UDAN Helicopter services in Assam, air travel will be enhanced within the state, connecting Tezpur, Jorhat, and Dibrugarh to the state capital in the quickest possible time. This helicopter service will also play a significant role in boosting tourism activities in the region.

Helicopter Deployed for Service

Pawan Hans has deployed a Twin Engine Dauphin Helicopter with a seating capacity of up to 11 passengers for RCS UDAN Services. These services are offered under the aegis of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Government of India’s flagship scheme, RCS UDAN, to enhance regional air connectivity by providing cost-effective airfares.
